I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. My name is Mera West, and I’m the heart and hands behind The Pepper Eve, a small-batch artisan brand rooted in nature, nurtured by resilience, and inspired by the power of pepper.

This space isn't just a shop; it’s the expression of a deeply personal journey. One that’s been marked by transformation, healing, and rediscovery. After facing significant health challenges and undergoing life-changing surgeries, I found myself reevaluating everything from what I put on my skin, to how I live, to what I create.

Why Pepper?

Pepper has always been seen as bold, fiery, even aggressive. But I’ve learned it can be so much more; soft, floral, grounding, and healing. Through experimentation and a touch of alchemy, I began blending peppercorns with botanicals, essential oils, and natural ingredients to craft soaps, spice blends, and candles that awaken the senses and nourish the body.

From the zing of pink peppercorn to the earthiness of black, each product is a love letter to nature’s resilience and a reminder that beauty can bloom from even the toughest terrain.

A Little Bit About Me

I’m a maker, a mother, a survivor. I’ve walked through fire and come out changed. My journey hasn’t been an easy one. I carry the BRCA2 genetic mutation, which significantly increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Because of that, I made the courageous decision to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy and a total hysterectomy, choices that changed my body, my hormones, and my life forever.

Recovery has not been linear. Over the course of a single year, I endured seven surgeries, each one a battle in its own right. Those surgeries led to severe complications that landed me in the ICU for a week. What followed was 45 days of intensive IV antibiotic infusions that wreaked havoc not just on my physical body, but on my mental health and self-esteem. I felt disconnected from myself, fragile, exposed, and searching for a way to feel whole again.

Surgical menopause added another layer of complexity, bringing shifts in hormones, skin, and immune health. In that dark and uncertain space, I began to seek out holistic ways to support my healing. What started as an effort to regain control of my health became a creative awakening. 

Blending scents, textures, and flavors became more than a hobby; it became a calling. In each soap, spice blend, and candles I create in small batches with transparency and intention. My work isn’t mass-produced. It’s personal. It’s handmade. It’s meant to remind you of your own strength, your own softness, your own spice.
